Spawn, Wild C.A.T.S
Spawn is the most recognizable and popular character in the Image Comics' comic book universe. Created by writer/artist Todd McFarlane, he first appeared in Spawn #1 (May 1992). The book began with a very superhero-like tone, much like McFarlane's previous work, but the title character evolved into a more flawed anti-hero. The current book has skewed significantly darker than early issues would suggest. McFarlane attributes this to being a necessary part of development. To introduce the book to readers it had to be slightly cleaner than he really wished it to be so that it read like a superhero tale. As the book took off and became more established he was able to alter the tone closer to his vision.
A CIA agent killed by his own boss for witnessing his corruption, Al Simmons was sent to hell. To see his wife one more time, he made a deal with the demon Malebolgia to become an undead “hellspawn.” Spawn has tried to retain his own humanity while finding a way out of Malebolgia’s control and battling a variety of enemies, both supernatural and crime-related.
Largely due to the popularity McFarlane accumulated illustrating Marvel Comics’ Spider-Man, Spawn became an instant sales sensation and perhaps the most popular comic book character owned by a third company since Marvel and DC dominated the market in the 1960s.

Smax by Alan Moore
Smax is a fictional character from the comic book series Top 10 written by Alan Moore, illustrated by Gene Ha, and published by the America's Best Comics imprint of DC Comics / Wildstorm. A Top-10 spin-off mini-series called Smax focused on the character.
Jeff Smax (born Jaafs Macksun), is a gigantic, blue-skinned, white-haired, super-powered, half-ogre policeman who lives and works in a city populated entirely by super-powered beings. Smax originally hailed from a land based on fantasy myth and fairy tale legends, but had left after a horrifying failure during his career as a dragon slayer.
Smax is the muscle of Precinct 10, being both incredibly strong, and invulnerable to most forms of harm, including radiation. Smax is often fairly gruff and guarded amongst his peers, mostly due to the frequent loss of loved ones he has experienced in life (most notably his dear friend and late partner, Stochastic Fats). Though at first very hesitant to become friendly with his new partner, Robyn Slinger, he eventually begins to bond with her, even feeling a great need to protect her when she is attacked by Commissioner Ultima. The pair are not romantically involved, however, as Smax has an intimate relationship with his twin sister Rexa.
Smax is fairly resourceful in the line of duty, but he has a quick temper and is not intellectually inclined, often not thinking things through. Smax has experience using weaponry, including his Singing Sword, but he most often prefers using his fist, or his Strong Light energy (which emanates from his solar plexus).

This is the second series to be launched in 2005 under DC's All Star imprint, the first being All Star Batman and Robin. These series are attempts by DC to allow major comics creators a chance to tell stories showcasing these characters, without being restricted by DC Universe continuity.
All Star Superman won the Eisner Award for Best New Series in 2006

Ex Machina (1 - 29)
Ex Machina is a creator-owned comic book by writer Brian K. Vaughan and artist Tony Harris, published by Wildstorm Productions beginning in 2004.
It details the life of Mitchell Hundred, formerly known as the Great Machine, the world's first and only superhero, who - in the wake of his heroism in saving thousands of lives in the World Trade Center collapse - is elected Mayor of New York City.
The storylines, set during Hundred's term as Mayor although interspersed with flashbacks, deal with the situations Hundred faces in his position, as well as exploring the odd phenomena linked to his power of control over any or all machinery.
The title has a dual meaning. The Latin phrase Deus ex machina means "God from the Machine" and was a popular way of resolving problems in Classical Greek and Roman plays. A character pretending to be a god would be lowered down to the stage using a machine and would magically fix the characters woes. The other meaning refers to Mayor Hundred having been a hero called the "Great Machine" (after a Thomas Jefferson quote) and is now the ex-Machine.
